Another one down.

St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC has officially announced its closure — and while we take no joy in the news, we also can’t ignore it: they were ranked 753rd out of 843 in our 2024 Collegiate Survivability Index.

In other words, the writing wasn't just on the wall — it was in the spreadsheets.

📉 Key warning signs:

  • CSI Score: –0.34 (yikes)
  • Weak academic efficiency
  • Critically low financial reserves
  • North Carolina's overcrowded higher ed market didn’t help

The closure validates what we’ve been saying for a while:
Endowment size alone doesn’t cut it. Neither does a historic mission. Survivability takes a lot more than tradition — it takes math, margin, and market strategy.

We’re not celebrating. We’re sounding the alarm.

More universities are quietly slipping under. The goal of the Collegiate Deathpool is to make sure we’re not all surprised when the lights go out.

🎓 Curious who’s next?
